Theatre should cause an emotional stir with the audience members

Young Urban Women's Project drama group

Participatory Drama on International Youth Day
Theatre/Drama should cause an emotional stir with the audience members, it should change their way of thinking of the way they see the world and inspire the audience to want to do more. This is one of the powerful tool that can be used to advance advocacy work on women's issues . Drama has the potential to change someone's views on an issue thus it is called theatre for development or edutainment  by many development practitioners . Perhaps it is because seeing real life events on stage is refreshing and has that personal connecting with you as an audience member.
It was a breath taking to watch Young Urban Women Acting the way they displayed the moves during the dance drama proved that women can do it better. The information that was disseminated on  breast cancer was coming from an informed group and the storyline on Breast cancer was quite powerful to an extend that you could go on an emotional rollercoaster with the characters who lacked information and knowledge on breast cancer .
They managed to share information regarding to symptoms of breast cancer which may include a lump in the breast, a change in size or shape of the breast or discharge from nipple. Through the drama play it was also a learning platform for men that they can also have breast cancer therefore it is not only women's responsibility to fight against breast cancer but a responsibility for both men and women . Edutainment is one of the tool that Young Urban Women's Project has adopted and using during its programs , it makes the learning process more enjoyable and engaging which is key to effective learning . Edutainment  is a combination of Entertainment and education this tool is used to attract and maintain audience while incorporating educational content and relevant message. When education is presented in a dry way it can cause people to tune out and not get the information or absorb the material. For Young Urban Women's Project drama is one form of tool that contributes immensely on awareness and campaign activities .
